Video poker strategy - Straight Flushes
After the Royal Flush, the Straight flush
is the hand with the next highest payout, though the
rewards aren’t proportionally as good when you
consider the odds of achieving the hand. You are four
times more likely to get a straight flush than a Royal
Flush, but the payout is normally only one sixteenth
of that for a Royal Flush.
So although the Straight Flush is a good win, you don’t
discard winning hands to favour it in quite the same
way as you would do with a Royal Flush.
The general rules for straight flushes are:
If you have four to a straight flush:
Keep any flush or straight
Otherwise, go for the straight flush
If you have 3 to a straight flush:
Keep any flush or straight
Keep three of a kind
Keep two pairs
Keep any pair
Otherwise, go for the straight flush
If you have 2 to a straight flush
Keep four of a kind
Keep a full house
Keep any flush or straight
Keep three of a kind
Keep two pairs
Keep any pair
Otherwise, go for the straight flush
